Volunteer Experience

  • The Oaks - Shepherds Of Good Hope, Ottawa, ON, Lunch And Wine-Making Volunteer (08/2017-06/2020) - Volunteer in cooking lunch weekly (Tuesdays) at Shepherds of Good Hope's Residence 'The Oaks'. In addition, assisted monthly (when required) in making the wine that is used in harm reduction for the clients who suffer from physical and mental health issues and chronic alcoholism. Modified standard recipes to account for ingredient issues or customer requests, including allergen concerns. Volunteered 6hrs per week.
  • Canadian Blood Services, Ottawa, ON, 'Recovery Area' Volunteer (11/2017-06/2020). Volunteered at the Permanent clinic and Mobile clinics around the Ottawa region, keeping clients comfortable as they donate to the national supply of blood and blood products. Volunteered over 275 hours in the position. Assisted the national blood supply by personally donating thirty four times to date, and organizing a corporate blood drive.
  • Ottawa Paw Pantry, Ottawa, ON, Logistics And Client Relations Representative (11/2017-03/2019). As a client relation's representative, ensured that those that have come upon difficult times are able to feed their pets in the Ottawa area. Helping out with logistics and delivery when required. Approximately 5 hours per month.
  • Ottawa Footy Sevens, Ottawa, ON, Charity Tournament Coordinator (05/2012-Current). Helped organize and coordinate since 2015, volunteer referee since 2012. The annual tournament, 'Kicking Cancer's Butt', has raised more than $120,000 for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
  • Canadian Blood Services, Ottawa, ON, Blood Drive Coordinator, 09/2018-06/2020. Organized and managed independently a two-day blood drive for members of the Ottawa Footy Sevens organization. This included helping in organizing a Blood Typing event on September 19th, 2018. Registered the company as a 'Partner for Life' with a commitment of 100 donations per year. Involved in bringing in more than 25 first time donors every year since 2018. Organized a 'Blood Donation Day' on March 19th, 2020 to try and offset the amount of cancellations of blood donations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
