AYSHAN MAMMADZADA

Summary

With over a decade of experience at the intersection of migration, climate change, equity, and data-driven public policy, I offer a unique interdisciplinary perspective. Currently pursuing a PhD in Geography with a specialization in Canadian Studies at the University of Ottawa, my professional background includes academic research, local immigration strategy, UN development programs, and global environmental initiatives. I possess a diverse skill set in mixed-methods research, program design, GIS and statistical analysis, and multi-stakeholder engagement. Throughout my career, I have led and contributed to nationally and internationally recognized initiatives focused on skilled immigrant integration, environmental governance, and equity-focused service delivery. Additionally, I have extensive teaching experience in physical and human geography and am dedicated to inclusive and critical pedagogy. In my recent role at the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP), where I held progressively senior positions including Policy & Research Lead for over three years, I developed regional strategies, led data mobilization efforts, and fostered high-level collaboration across government, academic, and community sectors. Despite recent federal funding cuts impacting my permanent role at OLIP and other settlement-serving organizations nationwide, my strong commitment to advancing work that supports migration, equity, and evidence-informed policy remains unwavering. As a mother to an 18-month-old son, balancing academia and a professional career, I actively seek new opportunities aligned with this mission.
