I have remained actively involved in both my school and home communities through a wide range of volunteer
roles. At the Native Education College, I supported Elders’ events and various alumni gatherings. In Vancouver, I
volunteer annually for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) events and continue to take part in
National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations in various locations yearly. I also support community needs through
volunteering with the Vancouver Food Bank when I am able. While attending Nicola Valley Institute of Technology,
I have been involved with student society decision making and event planning and served as a student
representative on the Education Council Board through my last year. In my home community of Esketemc Nation, I
continue to give back by volunteering at the annual Round Up and Pow Wow. When I am in my home community, I
assist with community gatherings, I have often prepared and served meals during funeral services for our grieving
members. Additionally, Eskétemc Nation is a remote community, so I often volunteered to take members to town
for meetings and cultural events when needed. These experiences reflect my ongoing commitment to community
care, cultural service, and supporting the well-being of those around me.
