My recent experience working with the unhoused community has deepened my passion for helping those in need. I am seeking a responsible and challenging position working with a dynamic team of Recovery Specialist in any of the following capacities: Substance Abuse Counselor / Case Manager / Community Outreach Prevention Specialist or a similar position where the knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience will be practiced.

• In the process of obtaining the Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT)
• Competency and Understanding of the Importance of Reports and Record Keeping
• 12 Core Functions and 46 Global Criteria
• Able to distinguish the body systems affected by alcohol use, abuse and dependence
• Identify illnesses and diseases primarily caused by or exacerbated by alcohol
• Ability to identify and classify various illicit and prescriptions drugs
• Basic knowledge of both theoretical and practical knowledge base for the entry-level AOD counselor
• Gained knowledge of fundamental principles of counseling and the counseling relationship
• Some course topics covered: Group Therapy, Co-Occurring Disorders, Recovery Process, Relapse Prevention, Support Groups
• Understanding of family dynamics in a chemically dependent family and the interventions which may lead to recovery for family members
