I am passionate about education and have given most of my working life to following that passion. I am dedicated to creating and implementing instruction and assessment to meet both student and provincial education requirements. I have taken time away from the work environment to pursue family and personal goals, and am now very much looking forward to returning to the world of education. I am eager to bring my experience and expertise back to the classroom.

As a home education specialist, I worked both full and part -time with children ranging in age from 7 to 20 years. I worked mainly for one family, providing full time home education for one child from grade 8 through grade 10, while also providing regular tutoring in all subjects for another child from grade 8 through grade 10, followed by continued support in English and Social Sciences into Undergraduate education.

  • Designed a full time home education program in co-operation with the Calgary Board of Education and later with Alberta Learning. This child was able to reintegrate into regular public school with some continued learning support for her final years of high school.
  • Communicated frequently with parents, students, and faculty to provide feedback and discuss instructional strategies.
  • Incorporated multiple types of teaching strategies into classroom.
  • Developed and administered tests for students to measure academic proficiency and understanding.
  • Graded and evaluated student assignments, papers, and course work.

Volunteer Work

I have done a great deal of volunteer work over the years. Most recently I was a volunteer with the MARS Wildlife Rescue Center in Merville, B.C. during the course of which I completed my Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation Certificate through the IWRC.

I also volunteered in past years with Girl Guides of Canada, Cantare Children's Choir, Calgary Zoo, Glendale Elementary and Westmount Charter Schools in Calgary.
