Ethan Hawkins

Industry-experienced and ambitious engineering student aiming to gain experience in the consulting/design realm of the construction industry.

• First-Year Design Project: Designed a pressure capsule system that slowly added two substances to create an aqueous solution. An Arduino was programmed to read the pressure and control a pump adding the substances. Once at a certain pressure, the system had to maintain that pressure and then slowly release it.
• Second-Year Design Project: Designed a bird-watching blind for clients at Pelee Island Conservation Area. Went through various design and client meeting stages to cater to the design, built a scale model, and designed a 3D design. Presented our design at the annual design competition to the clients.
• Third-Year Design Project: For our structural design class, we had to build and design a popsicle stick bridge following strict parameters. Calculated maximum loading, internal forces on members, and max allowable tension and compression forces. Competed and placed 4th out of 40 groups for maximum loading.

Western Engineering Ambassador

• Establish positive relationships with both graduate and undergraduate students
• Actively aid and support students throughout their prospective student phase
• Provide input to the recruitment team on developing new workshops, presentations and initiatives for students
• Provide tours and information for Western Engineering prospects

Western Engineering Green Technology Club

• Searched and built relationships with sponsors for the team
• Aid in the design and building of a direct air carbon capture prototype for a competition in New York City
