• My research experience was focused on the relationship between the initial stages of vision, which detect local features like edges, bars, and surface marks, and the intermediate stages, which connect those features to produce contours, textures, and surfaces. Research across several disciplines, including 3 spatial vision, color vision, stereopsis, texture perception, brightness & lightness perception, and transparency is required to comprehend this process thoroughly. We primarily used psychophysical approaches, but we also used image processing and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). As an undergraduate research assistant on this project, I recruited test subjects when necessary and tested them in psychophysical experiments. I collated, analyzed, and plotted the resulting data using MatLab.
