Townsend Munoz-Moctezuma

• As a peer support specialist, my duties involve advocacy for those we serve, one-on-one services with members where we discuss topics such as boundaries, decision-making, health and wellness, triggers, coping skills, safety, self-care, socialization, recovery, and so forth. I also facilitate groups that revolve around psychoeducation on different diagnoses, as well as activities of daily living. I conduct screenings, update client charts, participate in case conferences, and complete documentation. I send referrals and conduct intakes. I accompany members to community engagements, and I provide resources and link members to different programs within the community.

As a Path of Life service staff member, my job consisted of welcoming guests, searching the belongings of guests, checking in and checking out guests, counting guests at the end of the shift, resolving conflicts among guests and staff, communicating with case managers, cooking meals for guests and cleaning up after meals, making general announcements to guests, utilizing Narcan when necessary, communicating with outside agencies such as paramedics, the fire department, and the police department, maintaining the facility through general maintenance tasks, and taking inventory of shelter supplies and guest property.

• Delivered compassionate care to increase comfort and psychological, social, and spiritual well-being. Fostered relationships with patients that encouraged self-awareness and emotional expression. Created and maintained clean, healthy, and safe living and working environments. Assisted patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, physical comfort, nutrition, rehabilitation, and safety. Performed counseling interventions to address issues through conflict resolution and situational adjustment to depression, anxiety, and physical or substance abuse.

• Mixed cleaning solution ratios of ammonia, water, vinegar, or other chemicals for each job. I washed the windows manually and with high-pressure systems. Kept supplies organized, and equipment well-maintained, to stay ready for daily workloads. Managed job paperwork and customer relations, including collecting payments, and providing receipts. Completed routine maintenance checks, notifying management of any needed repairs.

• Maintained clean, sanitized and well-stocked food areas for optimal presentation and food safety. Stocked salad and cold food items, replenished ice and verified temperatures of different food items. Verified adequate levels of supplies such as linens and trays and restocked low items. Set up and broke down serving line. Operated industrial dishwasher to wash glassware and utensils. Assisted cook with prep work by cutting vegetables and preparing side dishes and salads.
