- Audits specific international and film industry issues related to international tax and film tax credits, including intercompany pricing, royalties, and intergroup service charges in medium and large corporations.
- Audits taxpayers’ files in order to recover unpaid taxes, interest and penalties while evaluating the possibility of pursuing changes in court and providing advice to taxpayers and their representatives regarding audit and compliance issues.
- Identifies audit issues relating to international business and film and video productions, formulates and modifies audit plans and procedures during audits and coordinates audit activities including the review of the work of team members.
- Reviews referrals from international and other auditors on complex international issues arising primarily in large businesses and corporations. Recommends course of action to resolve these issues.
- Conducts compliance reviews of international issues related to the Excise Tax.
- Negotiates adjustment proposals, penalty recommendations, complex, technical and contentious international issues, including the application of tax conventions, with taxpayers and their representatives.
- Gathers and reviews information to make recommendations on referrals from Competent Authority and International Tax
- Directorate on double taxation cases and exchanges information with treaty partners.
- Gathers asset information to assist in the collection of taxpayer's indebtedness and explains the advantages of submitting and early payment.
- Assists the Department of Justice staff in their defence of assessments/reassessments and penalties in the courts by preparing reports and working papers to support these actions.
- Participate in the conduct of monetary policy, help promote the safety and efficiency of our financial and payment systems, assist in managing the government’s public debt programs and foreign exchange reserves ;
- Develop leading-edge research ideas and produce high-quality research papers related to the broad responsibilities of the Bank’s functional areas;
- Conduct policy analysis and brief senior management on matters related to the responsibilities of the functional areas;
- Work in collaboration with colleagues from the Bank on multi-disciplinary projects that may involve functioning in a matrix environment;
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Bank and from other organizations to develop research ideas, as well as produce and disseminate research;
- Build relationships with external parties, e.g., government and international agencies, other central banks, financial market participants and organizations, and outside academics, to share knowledge, research and analysis.
- Review procedures and activities at the financial institution to ensure it is functioning in compliance with all relevant and necessary government rules and regulations;
