Providing first aid and health assessments for students with acute injuries and illnesses, collaborating as part of the interdisciplinary team for students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and updating the team on students' health statuses. Responsibilities include performing health screenings, including developmental assessments for special education students, and submitting reports to local and state health authorities. The position also involves monitoring student immunization records, analyzing medical documentation, and offering referrals to families for medical, dental, vision, mental health, and social services.

Ensuring the safe administration of medications and health procedures according to doctors' orders and coordinate care with health teams. Additionally, it involves creating and implementing Individualized Health and Support Plans (IHSP) for students, maintaining cumulative health records, and collaborating with local community groups on health programs. Knowledge of Medi-Cal billing via Paradigm and the Synergy Student Information System for managing student records is essential.

Provide patient care in a correctional facility, including patient assessment, medication administration, and patient education. Responsibilities involve caring for patients with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, mental illness, and wound care. Triage incoming patients and medically clear them for booking, processes sick calls for in-house patients, and educates them on the importance of medication adherence, disease processes, and potential medication side effects.
Collaborate with physicians or nurse practitioners to develop, implement, and modify care plans for inmates, ensuring appropriate medical management. Additionally, the nurse provides supervision and direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), and utilizes TechCare software for patient data management.

Managing the deposit room, splitting checks to each facility, and distributing payments to each processor. The position requires knowledge of Intergy, Emdeon, and EOB1 software and involves posting payments from checks, EFTs, and Lockbox deposits. The nurse or staff member may need to contact medical insurance for additional information to process payments and work with recoupments, reconciliations, and refunds. An essential skill is the ability to read and understand Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs).

Verifying patient insurance through the internet or phone and obtaining authorizations for services before patient appointments. The position involves insurance verification for 5-10 different satellite offices, as well as inputting new patient information and updating insurance details. Additional duties include filing and scanning charge sheets. Knowledge of Centricity software and use of multiple verification websites to confirm healthcare coverage.
