I am a married mother to three daughters, all of whom either have attended, or are currently attending Wainwright Elementary (Grades 1, 3 and 7) I love the staff and friendly atmosphere at WES and would love to join your team as a full time employee!
I have previous office experience so originally I was hoping to get into the office at WES, but as there have been no openings, I spent the last school year working as a substitute educational assistant- mostly in Grade 1 and occasionally kindergarten and Grade 2
My heart is with the younger students, who need extra time in the hallway or a quiet environment to learn at their own pace, or reading with students who require extra assistance I spent almost 3 months (6 weeks in Jan/Feb and 6 weeks in May/June) working with Max Rosen in Jenna Beier's Grade 1 class After spending some time with Max we established a great relationship! I also was on-hand to assist Collin's Stafford in that class when she needed some extra time and instruction to complete the task at hand I accompanied the class on their year end field trips, which I totally enjoyed!
Having said this, I have to be honest and admit that I am uncomfortable with non-verbal and wheel chair bound students I feel I am not equipped mentally or physically for this task I work better with students who require additional assistance on top of the regular curriculum, or who may struggle in a noisy learning environment and need some extra time to complete regular course work I work well with children with behavioral issues, as I am friendly, but firm and deal well with heated situations when they arise
I've also worked with autistic students in the past, and have the patience and calm nature to help them complete their schoolwork, while keeping them from feeling alone and frustrated
My love for children brought me to the school It's a safe, fun, friendly atmosphere and somewhere I could look forward to going to work to everyday- which I was lucky enough to experience last year!
I have a willingness to learn, am highly organized, reliable, and already very familiar with the students, staff, and policies at Wainwright Elementary School
Please consider me to fill this position, should you feel I am a good fit for a child in need of an Educational Assistant
