Summary

I've traveled extensively, exploring more than 30 countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North and Central America, exposing me to different languages, cultures, and cuisines. It allowed me to experience new and diverse environments.

Traveling has made me confident and self-reliant while developing my ability to engage and communicate with people.

Being an overseas expat student allowed me to volunteer at an animal rescue sanctuary in Singapore and build new schools in an impoverished region of Cambodia. This incredibly broadened my work experience and gave me a better understanding of the importance and value of a strong work ethic.

As a result of this, I enjoy a hardworking, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment. I enjoy and value working with other employees and being a positive and productive team member.

  • Creating trust and showing your self-worth to the client is the most important part of the Job, they need to see that their animal is in safe and competent hands throughout the process.
  • Animal care is a huge priority at PRI. High anxiety and quite intense situations with these animals occur often, so knowing how to adapt to the animals' and clients' needs is crucial.
  • Long working hours are prevalent at PRI, Pet transport can range from short-distance delivery over a couple of days to international travel that can last over a week.
  • Since situations can go wrong in an instant in animal travel, quick thinking, positivity, and composure are used constantly.
  • Communicating clear information effectively to clients on the progress of their animal's transportation is crucial at all points of the transporting process as it leads to the client's trust.

  • Worked with fellow employees creating weekly work schedules that revolved around our activities, workload, and customer rotation.
  • As I had previously worked in large teams in Cambodia cooperating and communicating effectively, delegating tasks, and working cohesively came naturally.
  • I was provided with employee training, which covered the correct way to line sheets, sanitize work areas, greet, and check-in customers, dispose of waste, and deep clean amenities.
  • I would ensure that any given task was completed to a high professional standard. This included removing guest vehicles from snow mounds, salting and de-icing the walkways, and repairing frozen pipes, broken doors, and steps.
  • Working in a hostel with a high turnover rate was amazing, the constant flow of new people was abundant and made for amazing work.

  • After one month, my position was increased to lead volunteer, which came with four recruits I trained, scheduled, and led for the remainder of my work at Acres.
  • Communication, empathy, understanding, and patience were key requirements in this role. Many tasks involved animals such as snapping turtles, snakes, possums, and birds of prey.
  • I was an integral member of the animal rehabilitation centre for reptiles and birds. I nursed back to release over 12 different soft-shell turtles. Including the rare Singapore spotted wood owl.
  • The first month consisted entirely of manual duties. I handled and logged the incoming injured animals, prepared and distributed food for various reptiles, cleaned and sanitized cages and quarantine units, administered medicines, and dressing of wounds, and cleaned all types of animals.
