Sebastian Hernandez

• Selected for the competitive Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) program with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS), which aimed to strengthen relationships between youth and law enforcement through community engagement and mentorship.

• Assigned to the Community Mobile Team alongside five other YIPI students and one YIPI coordinator, working across Ottawa to assist with OPS-led initiatives.

• Responsibilities included helping to clean and maintain public spaces such as parks and beaches, attending and assisting at OPS events, and actively engaging with community members to foster positive relationships between the police and the public.

• Collaborated with fellow YIPI students, coordinators, and OPS members to support community outreach, build trust, and contribute to a stronger, more connected Ottawa.

• The program was designed to develop key leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while offering valuable insight into daily policing operations.
