Highly motivated Wildland Firefighter that cares and conserves for the well being of our land, structures, and mainly serving the people. My main objective is to continue collaborating along with the rest of my comrades in making a positive difference in our planet; by suppressing wildland fires, assisting in medical emergencies, and coordinating safety practices to conserve a safer environment for everyone. I will continue to strive to accomplish all my short and long term goals; and overall, to fulfill this calling as a firefighter.
Currently, I'm employed with CAL-FIRE as a Firefighter 1. This 2024 fire season will be my 10th fire season working as a Wildland Firefighter. In addition, 8 out of the 10 years in wildland firefighting have been with the Forest Service. On the other hand, this 2024 fire season will be my 2nd season employed with CAL-FIRE. I can proudly say that I was given the opportunity and the privilege to be part of TUU TFC-6 and TUU TFC-7 this past 2023 fire season. Both of these distinguished hand crews are well respected amongst one of the best hand crews in the TUU as of today. Previously, I was attached to Engine-21 off of Springville, CA in 2022. My position was of an apprentice, GS-5-FFT1 in the Engine module. Before I was hired as an apprentice, I worked with the Organized Crews (OC-Program) off of Porterville, CA for 7 years. I have worked with almost all of the OC crews as a FFT1 squad-boss and sometimes acting crew leader. To sum up, I have gained 1 year with TFC-6 and TFC-7 type 1 crews, 1 year with E-21, 5 years with T2IA hand crews, and 2 years in regular T2 hand crews. I have assisted in numerous wildland fires from a scrapper, sawyer, swamper, road gard, to janitorial and landscaping work around different duty stations. I have responded to vehicle accidents and emergency calls. I have assisted as a scribe and I have guided and worked with Helicopters and Engines as a ICT5 trainee. I have served as a lookout and read weather over the radio on countless fires. I have worked in structure protection in many occasions. I have assisted in setting up progressive and simple hose lays on multiple fires. I have established water supply lines and directed water onto the fires. I have also assisted as a pump operator to help support and contain fire lines. I have cut line using the direct and indirect method. I have suppressed and extinguished numerous fires with water and foam to complete the final extinguishment (AKA Mop Up). I have assisted getting hose in place for numerous Engines and pulled out hose as indicated by hire ups. I also, assisted on a vehicle accident were there was two fatalities involved. On the other hand, I have experience and acquire very good knowledge with project work as well that consist of: clearing roads, removing heavy brush, cutting hazardous tress and constructed many fire break lines to prevent future fires. I have assisted in preparing certain areas to burn and I had the opportunity to burn in many occasions utilizing different burning devices. I have also been flown in and out of fires from various different helicopters. I have patrolled many fires after they have burn to search and destroy possible hot spots. I have worked nights shifts and spiked out numerous times. My overall, experience have been of a squad-boss. Early in April 2021, I also worked with FEMA assisting in different vaccination sites for COVID-19 in Baltimore, Maryland. My responsibilities were of a scribe; to ensure every patient was on the system as I managed the take out process before the patients departure from the vaccination sites while I was in charge of monitoring 6 Firefighters from my duty station at the same time. In addition, I also acquire a welding/fabricating background. In 2014 I got certified as a welder from College Of The Sequoias and I started working as a welder taking approximately 5 years off of firefighting. However, I truly missed fighting fires, so I decided to reengage in the Forest Service in 2018. At this time my qualifications are:
I was also awarded a black ribbon in 2018, due to a Firefighter fatality that unfortunately I had to experienced at the Mendocino Complex Fire along with Slate Mountain T2IA fuels crew off of Springville, CA.
