I worked in the foremost multi-disciplinary therapeutic clinic in Brantford, Ontario for over 10 years, with 9 colleagues, where we happily treated an average of 60 people a day.
Although I am 60 years old, I have had a long career in Corporate jobs and discovering Massage Therapy was a revelation to me. I never knew I could be happy in the workplace or that work could be rewarding outside of financial considerations.
I went back to full-time college at 45 years old with a four year old child at home. It was the most difficult journey of my life and it was entirely worth it. With unceasing hard work, I graduated top of my class with a grade of over 93%.
I truly love being an RMT - this is the best job I've ever had and I want to continue doing this until I have to stop. Because of my commitment to fitness, I expect to work for a very long time.
As senior RMT at the clinic in Brantford, I was dedicated to treating a team of regular clients whom I miss very much, and many of whom I am still in regular contact with. I am proud to have been part of so many diverse people's health journeys, and to have positively affected so many lives.
In order to expand my health care knowledge and offer my clients more, I chose to become a Reflexologist while maintaining my practice as an RMT and have been able to treat in two separate capacities since 2016. The modalities work well together.
Because Brantford is one of Ontario's fastest growing cities, I worked daily with people of all ages, from all over the world, who spoke many different languages, and who had had very different life experiences. It was challenging, and exhilarating.
I would consider making the difficult career transition from newspaper paginator to RMT to be my finest accomplishment. Except for my son!
