History - Description

I am a Cree Member of Saddle Lake Cree Nation. I moved to CLFN with my husband back in 2003. We have five children all together and now find ourselves to be grandparents of seven grandchildren. All our children have become respectful adults and have their own homes. Since working with CLFN as a Family Support worker back in 2015 it was exciting. During the years I have grown to know the Cold Lake first Nations community members. I did do a lot of home visits on the nation and also during Covid, my department was the only one that assisted families who were in lock down due to having covid, I went to the homes and left on their doorstep medicines such as Chage and skunk juice, rat root for their ailments. FCSS also helped with food if they could not leave the home. During my journey from working as a Family Support worker to Manager of FCSS and now currently under the creation of Team Lead Prevention-Community Events, it has been valuable experience to learn distinct roles and to be able to work with Staff that are growing and learning too.
