In the summer of 2022, I started working as a hockey coach, skating coach, and camp instructor for UBC Recreation. I am currently working as a coach and skating instructor. My responsibilities are teaching kids how to skate and learn to play hockey. I have worked my way into a larger role starting as an assistant coach to running practices and lessons independently. In the summer I work at AJR Marine Windows assisting with production. I learned how to use power tools, shop machines, and how to operate a forklift. The job duties included building/assembling windows and doors, constructing crates, making parts, and working shipping and receiving. Some of the skills acquired included the following:
I had a project that I worked on with Velofix, which involved assembling bikes. My role was to be a bike assembler and technician where I built 200 adult bikes in 4 days. In this position, I learned to develop a routine and find efficiencies to improve my productivity. I was able to produce an above-average quantity of bikes. I enjoyed the learning experience and the challenge it provided. I found it very satisfying to complete the task quickly and accurately. I took away many skills from working this job which include:
