These attributes of work and handling high-pressure situations have, over time, been cultivated through these work experiences. The work in the lumber mill really taught me how to push my body, how to stay focused, and solve problems in the now. It also gave me experience with difficult personalities and taught me when to de-escalate situations or simply give people space.
My grocery clerk job consolidated within me the mode of communication: reading body expressions, being friendly with all people, and how to maintain the natural flow of a conversation. It helped in winning friendships, overcoming obstacles in life with dignity, and not being disturbed under adversarial conditions.
These experiences have taught me to become resilient, adapt, and be resourceful. I do well in challenging atmosphere and enjoy problems that need my solution. Being from this background, I would make a great officer and also contribute positively toward my community.
