Teacher

Langley School District
09.1989 - 06.2019

I taught grades 2 to 6, with most of my time spend teaching the grade 4 to 5 level. During this time I had the opportunity to integrate deaf and hard of hearing students, ELL students as well as students with moderate to severe learning disabilities. I retired from classroom teaching in 2019 to set up my own tutoring business.

English Language Teacher

Cultural Homestay & Canada Homestay
07.1987 - 08.1989

I worked for three summers for Cultural Homestay and then Canadian Homestay programs. In the first program, teachers were required to find homes for 30 to 40 students, teach language lessons in the mornings, and arrange and supervise field trips. I enjoyed working with two groups of teen girls from Japan, and then a group of teen boys from Korea. Cultural Homestay did not pay host families for hosting students so it was sometimes challenging to recruit families.
