I am a Registered RN.BN. working as a Clinical Resource Nurse at Children's Hospital. I have 18 years of experience working at the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg. I started as a UA in 2005 and went into nursing school, completing my Baccalaureate Nursing Degree in 2015. I have managed to work with the Pediatric Population through out my time at HSC, and have been working in my current role as a CRN since 2022. I am committed to continuing to learn, mentor, and lead in the nursing profession.

  • Collaborated, lead and supported a team of medical professionals through their day to day.
  • Mentoring staff on our unit. Charge training new staff when ready. Checking in on staff to make sure they are doing ok. Providing support when needed. Making sure the unit is running smoothly.
  • Efficiently assess patient care needs, nursing abilities & ratios, reported back to manager with unit needs. Troubleshooting staffing issues and advocating for the unit.
  • Managed patient flow. Keeping good connections with bed utilization, our team, and other departments. Keeping the chains of communication open and transparent.
  • Organized and lead the team, with admissions, discharges, education, teaching, facilitating and connecting the needs of the patients to the disciplines they need for the medical needs.

  • Included family into their child's care, to facilitate a good relationship, for the best outcomes for the caregiver and patient.
  • Educated patients, families and caregivers on how to do skills to provide care for their child while in hospital and to continue to be able to do so in the community. Some of which including, Feeding (assessing for safety with PO feeding, as well as NG/ GT/ GJ feeds and care). Central line and Port-A-Cath care (accessing, flushing, locking, maintaining quality clean technique to prevent infections). Dressing changes. Mobility. What to watch for with healing and signs of needing to come back. Medication teaching.
  • Trained new nurses in proper techniques, care standards, procedures and safety protocols. Including working along side students working through their placements who come through our department.
  • I have had 5 senior practicum students which have stayed in the Child Health Program.
  • Managed care from admission to discharge.
  • Administered medications via, oral, IV, Subcutaneous, and IM as well as treatments to patients and monitored responses while working with healthcare teams to adjust care plans. Evaluated healthcare needs, goals for treatment and available resources of each patient and connected to optimal providers and care.
  • Able to initiate IV access on patients, complete blood draws.
  • Initiates bringing in different disciplines (example: Child Life), for the benefit of the child's well being.
  • Charge Nurse Trained. Facilitated fair, and equal patient assignments suited to both nurses ability, and patient needs. Over see patient care, and staff management (floating, or sick calls). Coordinates appointments through out the day for patients. Actively participates in rounds with the physicians. Able to facilitate flow, with helping with discharges, and admissions as well as updating other departments when needed. Able to maintain professional boundaries when working along side coworkers. I have the ability to be a strong communicator, organizer and leader.
