As a member of the Emergency Response Team, it is my purpose to provide specialized Emergency Services to the Ontario Provincial Police, regions, and municipalities in the general areas of containment, apprehension of armed barricaded persons, search and rescue, canine backup, VIP security, witness protection, prisoner escort, warrant service, low slope rescue, and public order maintenance My duties also include:

  • Maintain a high level of operational readiness to respond to calls for service at all hours
  • Protection of critical infrastructure, assisting regions and municipal police services with crisis and consequence management functions stemming from criminal acts and terrorist incidents
  • Work alongside other OPP integrated response assets (Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine, Critical Incident Command, and Crisis Negotiators) during high-risk operations Liaises with other emergency management practitioners, police agencies and other ministry representatives in order to gather and exchange information Develops and nurtures partnerships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Prepares presentation materials to be used at awareness and/or training lectures and delivers presentations when required
  • Successfully complete all ERT training requirements and maintain an up-to-date training log
  • Completes a variety of administrative duties, such as maintaining a daily diary and notebook, maintaining assigned equipment, team equipment and vehicles, preparing reports, purchasing supplies; and entering/querying data
  • When not actively engaged in ERT related functions, perform General Law Enforcement duties in direct support of Regional and/or Detachment priorities

Detective Constable - Investigation and Enforcement Bureau (AGCO), Point Edward Casino, West Region, Ontario Provincial Police

July 2016 - May 2018

As a member of the Casino Enforcement Unit (IEB), I was responsible to investigate Criminal and Provincial offences within the casino as they pertained to the Gaming Control Act and the Criminal Code My duties included:

  • Investigations regarding the regulation and integrity of gaming in Ontario
  • Confidential Human Source Recruitment
  • Utilizing police resources such as CPIC/PIP/RMS-NICHE as well as social media platforms to identify people and complete comprehensive criminal investigations
  • Conduct in depth interviews and investigations in order to process criminal charges for committed offences
  • Prepared and submitting concise and accurate court documents, crown briefs in a timely manner so the courts were able to process charges
  • Liaised with other OPP Regions and other police agencies during the course of investigations

Provincial Constable - Lambton County West Region, Ontario Provincial Police

  • Conducted General Law Enforcement Duties and in addition was a Marine Operator, Community Police Liaison Officer, Scenes of Crime Officer, Breathalyzer Technician, Coach Officer
