KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Supervised, trained, and mentored four Development Officers.

Took the Planning Department through the recovery after the 2011 Wildfire devastated the Town of Slave Lake. This included coordinating an insurance consortium to demolish 333 properties destroyed by the Wildfire, including the Town Office. Worked with shallow utility companies to reinstall infrastructure destroyed by the fire within the recovery area. Issued over 300 development permits for the rebuilt structures over a period of 2 years. Worked tirelessly on the recovery of the Town, which took over 8 years to complete. Rebuilt the Planning Department and filing systems after the loss of the Town Office. This included moving to a digital filing system and the addition of a lot grading process to the many services the department already provided.

Participated in the Emergency Command Center (ECC) for 15 years as either the Planning Lead or the Deputy Dem. As part of the ECC, I participated in the implementation of emergency response plans for several disasters in Slave Lake, including the 2011 Wildfire, a train derailment, and several smaller floods.

Worked as the Acting Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Slave Lake for a period of 6 months, in addition to my duties as the Director of Planning and Development.

Worked diligently for two years with land developers (i.e., Springwood Developments) on the Cornerstone Shopping Centre development which was and still is the largest commercial development undertaken in Slave Lake.

Spoke at the Alberta Development Officer's Conference twice regarding the Slave Lake Fire and Recovery effort.

I was invited by the Municipality of Wood Buffalo to travel to Fort McMurray, along with the Fire Chief, to provide lessons learned and assistance after the Fort McMurray wildfire.
