- Lead ECO will assist the Deployment Manager in overseeing the operation of the communications center.
- When the Deployment Manager is unavailable the Lead ECO will consult with Deployment Managers from other centers about decision-making outside Lead ECO scope of practice.
- When the Deployment Manager is unavailable the Lead ECO will consult with the Transport Physician when make difficult transport decisions outside of the lead ECO scope of practice.
- Lead ECO will address concerns from other emergency communications officers (with the exception of medical advice or Human Resource concerns).
- Work closely with Allied Agencies such as RCMP, Fire, Hospitals, 811, Online Medical Control, RAAPID (Referral Access, Advice, Information and Destination), Vital Heart Response and the Transport Physician.
- Maintain situational awareness at all time.
- 911 call evaluation.
- Inter-facility Transport (IFT) evaluation and dispatch.
- System Status Management (SSM), responsible for all EMS units in dispatch area.
- Emergency Dispatcher for all available EMS units in the dispatch area. Responsible for monitoring all active and pending events
