Kaplan turbine design, Lakehead University, 2023,

  • Designed a Kaplan turbine for mini hydro power plant for a small community. The turbine can generate 1000KW (1MW) of electricity.
  • Determined the minimum height of the waterfall for the turbine system to have an overall efficiency of at least 85%.

Power generation of a solar photovoltaic (PV) panel for a building in Vancouver, BC, Lakehead University, 2023,

  • Designed a renewal electric power generation system using solar panels. Acquired weather data of the location collected for the past 5-8 years in order to determine the average daily and monthly sunlight hours for the year.
  • Used the average daily and monthly sunlight hour to evaluate the amount of irradiance per unit area for each time frame respectively. Optimized the angle of inclination for the solar panels to maintain high efficiency power generation.

Maximization of Solar PV & Wind Turbines Power Output using Modelling and Numerical Simulations (May 2024)

  • Used MATLAB and EXCEL to forecast and maximize performance across a range of climatic circumstances.
  • Feasibility studies to identify best sites and layouts for renewable energy projects.
  • Applied control strategies and optimization methods based on algorithms to maximize efficiency of renewable energy systems and power production.
  • Found elements influencing performance and suggested enhancements to increase system reliability and energy yield.
