Kent Schell

I'm a recent graduate from the trios College Personal Support worker program and am trying to build a new career. I finished my schooling at top of class which I believe reflects my passion, dedication, competence and ability to learn in the field. Capable of learning and following policies. In schooling, placement at Meadow Park London and continuation after being hired I was able to work with a diverse range of residents from those with Dementia, Mental Health issues, Cognitive impairment, post Stroke, and various other disabilities and illnesses.

I believe I've gained so much knowledge and understanding from the experience and certainly have the compassion for helping others as to why I chose to pursue this career. With safety the top priority, I assisted the residents on all shifts around the clock helping them with all of their ADL's (feeding, dressing, bathing, social events, exercises etc.) while keeping DIPPS (Dignity, Individualized care, Independence, Privacy, Preferences, Safety) at the forefront. I try my best to treat it like a home environment for residents, keeping them involved in activities for leisure and ADL's as to maintain their skills to remain as independent as possible, while respecting their wishes for privacy and choice. I'm also very familiar with various mechanical lifts and transferring techniques. Trained and have knowledge of residents dietary demands.

In good physical shape, have no problems with the physical challenges that the job may demand. I'm great at communication with the team and residents, as well as charting, documenting, and notifying the charge nurse of observations. Knowing these skills are of the upmost importance for the well-being of the residents. And to the mission goal of delivering consistent, best care possible to each and every resident/patient.
