Through my commitment to Roadway Maintenance I have continually pursued growth opportunities which has enabled me to be a well rounded asset with a solid track record in various positions. I've proven to be a natural leader with the ability to adapt, utilizing a extensive skill set to coach and mentor. My time as a Temporary District Supervisor gave me great growth personally and professionally, I take pride in leading and developing my team. My willingness to volunteer has allowed me to take on roles such as Co-Chair of the JHSC , vacation coverage for Roadway Compliance Patrol, and onboarding new employees. It is also important for me to continue my education within the department. This is why I'm grateful to be selected for this years Transportation Leadership and Development Training Program.

I'm an ambitious leader who has been successful in planning, budgeting, developing and executing projects. I lead with a proactive and proficient approach.

Roads Operator

Respond to Hansons and service orders and perform required actions. Lead and work with team members to ensure best practices are implemented, following all standard operating procedures. Acknowledge and assist the public and contractors with any concerns and provide proper support when required. Operate tandem axle plow trucks, wheel loader and equipment required to respond to winter weather events. Operations including plowing and salting to both municipal and provincial standards (MMS, MTO).

Operate, clean out and maintain street sweeper.

I was responsible to schedule and plan snow removal at bus stops and crosswalks, coordinating equipment, material and labor, mapping and optimizing route efficiency. I was an integral member in the planning and execution of the snowblower snow removal program.

I was tasked with providing new winter program operators training and assistance with plow and salter operation as well as assisting them with proper paperwork and route competence.

I was appointed Leadhand on the ditching crew, I was responsible to organize the traffic control per book 7, direct and work with the HEO and team on the installation of culverts. Perform ditching, using the Transit Laser System to ensure proper fall to allow for successful drainage. Ensuring locates and all paperwork's complete.

I've also trained my peers on how to use the transit rotary laser level.

I was assigned Leadhand on the hotbox asphalt team, responsible to coach and motivate the crew to perform asphalt repairs to MMS roads standards, also ensuring all required documentation was correct and complete.

I was voted by my peers to be the Heath & Safety Representative for our district in Roads, As a certified member of the JHSC for Roadway Maintenance I have contributed to many situations including; work refusal, parklane reviews, inspections, employee concerns, roundtable discussions and interactions with the Ministry of Labour.

Operate various equipment including skidsteer, loader, roller, street sweeper, hotbox and tampers.

Through my experience and knowledge I demonstrate a strong ability to lead, recognize adverse situations and safely pivot to keep the team on target with the task.

I enjoy building my peers by empowering them with confidence and mentoring their tasks.

Trained in CPR, Hours of service, Book 7 Traffic Control, W.H.M.I.S.,and Occupational Health and Safety,

Temporary Roadway Compliance Patroller

Document and report any deficiencies to the appropriate city department.

It was my responsibility to provide leadership and supervision to assigned staff and hired contractors for all maintenance requirements pertaining to roads ensuring all personnel were working in a safe and productive manner while accomplishing the required minimum maintenance standards as outlined by legislation , regulations and policy standards.

I was required to plan, organize and schedule daily tasks while accounting for workforce availability and resources, preparing and completing forms as required.

Plan and facilitate staff meetings, site inspections and monthly Health & Safety Meetings.

Perform overtime call-in to staff and contractors to respond to a winter storm event while following the requirements of the unions collective agreement.

Respond to concerns and requests from all levels within the city, Council and the general public ensuring a a timely professional solution.

It was important to communicate and collaborate with my supervisory team to ensure resources and workforce were balanced across all 3 scheduled shifts.

I was responsible for the management and decisions of all aspects of the business, which included the sales, costumer service, scheduling and invoicing of work. I worked directly with the public and contractors as well as representatives from municipalities to address all concerns regarding required tasks or quality of the work performed. Manage and coach the performance of the employees to ensure they were properly trained, productive and working within the guidelines of the Occupational Health and Safety regulation. Perform employee evaluations and implement a development plan threw coaching and training. I was responsible to plan, organize and implement the traffic control plans as per outlined by Book 7 regulations.

I was responsible to organize and execute large scale projects while maintaining deadlines and budgets.

I was fiscally responsible for the day to day operations and expenses, payroll, equipment, and advertising, as well as others. My duties also required me to manage the CRA and WSIB accounts.

It was my role to budget and procure all equipment for new acquisitions as well as selling used units. I was required to have a proficient knowledge of all types of vehicles and equipment. I organized and scheduled all repairs and maintenance as well as performed much of the works to the equipment.

My experience as a Licensed mechanic has been a major asset, it allows me to recognize and be proactive with equipment issues.

I was required to schedule and budget with optimum efficiency and maintain the equipment with limited capital funds.

After successfully starting and operating my business I was approached to sell the company, which I did in September of 2019.
