Collects pertinent objective information regarding illness and present status (Vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, etc.) in accordance with the plan of care and or unit standards. Reports information to licensed nurse.
Provides direct patient care implementing ICP interventions that are within the scope of nursing attendant practice.
Records collected information on nursing flow sheets or other chart records.
Provides ongoing input regarding functional status to licensed nurse.
Reports changes in signs and symptoms which could signal change in patient condition to the responsible licensed nurse.
Responds in a timely and effective manner to patient call lights and requests.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, i.e. serving meals, feeding, brushing teeth, dressing and undressing, bathing, eliminating, range of motion and ambulating.
Assists physician or licensed nurses in clinical examinations and treatments by positioning, holding, escorting and draping patients.
Turns and re-positions bedridden patients alone or with assistance, and takes appropriate measures to prevent pressure sore.
Contributes to patients comfort and well-being by changing linens, rearranging bedding, cleaning room, serving and removing meal trays, furnishing bedpans and urinals, and giving shampoos and back rubs.
