• Updated chart throughout shift with current, accurate information to maintain strict record-keeping standards

Cambridge Memorial Hospital Maternal/Child Unit

Accumulated 168 hours

• Cared for mothers and newborns following days after birth and provided physical and emotional support during the postpartum period
• Monitors mother's physical health during postpartum care, including assessing vaginal bleeding uterine contractions, temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure
• Taught new mothers about infant development, nutrition, sleep patterns, and other parenting-related topics
• Observe newborns for signs of illness, changes in behavior, and difficulty breathing while bathing, dressing, and weighing babies at regular intervals

Grand River Hospital Surgical Unit

Accumulated 96 hours

• Prioritized nursing tasks and assignments and accurately reported patient status
• Assisted patients with healing and recovery after surgery by closely monitoring and caring for wounds and educating patients about continued care strategies
• Assessed patient needs, prioritized treatment, and maintained patient flow
