I grew up in Timmins, ON. As I aged, I always had an interest in Social Work. I was particularly interested in being able to listen to individuals and ensure they feel heard, respected and helped. When I was 21, I took a leap of faith in moving to Alberta. I worked at a daycare- which was an amazing experience. Once I gathered courage to attend post-secondary, I applied to Georgian College to obtain my GED. Once I obtained by GED, I applied to Northern College located in Haileybury, ON. This was a great experience. Throughout my studies, I was gifted with a daughter. I stayed up many nights with her in one hand, laptop in the other, dedicated to my studies. I graduated and was granted my diploma. I was offered a job with North Eastern Ontario Child and Family services and happily accepted. I have been so grateful for my time with the organization however would like to broaden my horizon.
From January 2023 to April 2023 I completed an educational placement with Community Living in Timmins, ON. Throughout this time I had the opportunity to work with individuals who had developmental days. The tasks I engaged in were personal bathing, meal prep, day program activities and outings. This gave me an immense appreciation for those who work in group home settings as well as though who work with individuals who have developmental delays. I am forever grateful for my time with the agency, Community Living.
