Educational leadership is an act of service that requires courage, consistency, compassion, communication, collaboration, and connection. As an educational leader, openness, transparency, accountability, and empathetic listening cultivate a welcoming school community and a positive workplace culture that fosters reciprocal trust. Leadership involves maintaining personal wellness as this is reflected in the school culture. Authenticity and humility are vital. Constructive criticism and reflective and reflexive practice are necessary as I embrace my journey as a lifelong learner. To stay current, I will actively engage in professional development and engage with my professional learning community. I believe that if I engage the hearts and minds of students and empower them to use their voices, they, too, will be successful lifelong learners. Values represented in my work encompass inclusion, diversity, and equity, being mindful to interweave an Indigenous perspective and a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens and practice.
