  • Worked on a small team as a co-lead to ensure the Stollery would be eligible to become ChildKind certified [Accreditation visit will be Fall 2024]
  • Worked directly with frontline Stollery teams from a strengths-based approach to bring out positive and lasting quality improvement throughout site from September 2023 until present [ie: Maxilene use increasing]
  • Provided weekly leadership in team meetings, set agendas, provided overall project guidance and ensured timelines were met similar to a project manager using tools such as Trello
  • Chaired monthly CKI Core meetings that involved multiple disciplines and up to four Patient and Family Centered Care committee members
  • Once relationship established with AHS Stollery Data Team, worked closely with the team to create a CKI/Pediatric pain dashboard to monitor a variety of valuable data points around the journey of the pediatric patient and their experience of pain at the Stollery
  • Excelled in team engagement with teams within the University of Alberta site, outside of the Stollery; poster and education campaign with Environmental Services, Patient Food Services, and Lab Services; these three teams are engaged teams with modified education to staff to include pediatric pain advocacy
  • Lab Services now incorporates AHS Commitment to Comfort principles in their training of pediatric phlebotomists and has didactic training of same
  • Worked to establish valuable relationships with off-site Stollery teams and partners [University of Alberta Nursing program, off-site NICUs]

  • With consultation from Alberta Children's Hospital, created provincial educational material that is now taught to all staff hired province-wide regarding pediatric pain [90 minute presentation covering assessment, management, prevention, opioid use and concerns, and further resources]: General Nursing Orientation
  • Through local and national consultations and with guidance from the medical lead on our team, wrote 2 key resources for the Stollery: Stollery Acute Pain Assessment and Stollery Acute Pain Management with corresponding appendices that will be at every bedside throughout the Stollery in Fall 2024
  • Served as a key member on the Stollery/Glenrose Pediatric Pain Education Day planning committees for 2023 and 2024; solely responsible for managing and moderating the online portion of the >400 registrations on the day of the conference
  • Wrote several articles for publication within the Stollery as well as nationally around the quality improvement work
  • Active role in the Pediatric Pain Committee while in the capacity of this role, often leading discussions and providing presentations
  • Active role in creating and publishing content to the Stollery Spinetix screens throughout the site as it pertains to pediatric pain
  • Instrumental role in working to go-live with the Emergency Department SMS text messaging system for families
  • Revised and created branching logic for the Patient and Family Pain Experience survey in RedCap with including NICU content

Special Interests

I am an avid and certified hockey coach who is fortunate enough to teach basics through to competitive sport to nieces and nephews while balancing that with my own competitive hockey play. I am passionate about music and conduct and accompany a 23 person choir on a weekly basis as well as various performances throughout the year as well as teach six young children piano lessons on a weekly basis with the occasional opportunity to play for weddings and funerals as my schedule permits.
