Transporting patient's to the operating room, help with preparing for surgery, cleaning the rooms after surgery, stocking the room and more.

I started on the geriatric unit in July and by December I got a position in Emergency, friends would sometimes ask me what do you do in emergency as health care aide, my answer to that is " I don't give the medicine but everything else " . After 11 years working in emergency I changed over to ICU intensive care unit for a few years,when the closed the ICU i when over to the post operating department , for the last few years I have .2 in diagnostic imaging as a transporter and casual in OR.

• Assisted patients with dressing, grooming and feeding needs, helping to overcome, and adapt to mobility restrictions.
• Maintained clean, safe, and well-organized patient environment.
• Reduced patient anxiety through effective communication and active listening skills.
• Provided total hygiene care to patients per shift by assisting with skincare, bathing, and toileting.

We came to Canada in 1990 ,from Paraguay South America did not peak English, my first language German and second Spanish,started working in a furniture factory, but my goal was to become a nurse one day, but because m English was not good I decided in 1999 I would take the health care aide course at red River College . i was never sorry I did that , I love my job , helping,supporting, Im not a person to site behind a desk and do paper work . But I'm always open to learning new skills.
