I am the MOA/Manager to Dr. Dale Clayton.
First and foremost I had to make sure our patients were taken care of with the best patient care. I answered phones and communicated with patients and Doctors daily. I booked referrals coming in, and booked Appts going out. I made sure our patients had all appropriate blood test and imaging one. I communicated by Phone, email and text. I booked meetings for the doctors, and staff. I ordered supplies as needed and always made sure our office was up to standards. I did have a patient nominate me for MOA of the year. I was the MOA/Manager to Dr. Melck at St Pauls Hospital.
Basic duties include answering phones, ordering supplies, booking incoming and outgoing appointments, billing, EMR
Here I had to book surgeries for our patients. Make sure all forms are filled out, booking forms and packages completed and sent to OR booking. Right times and instructions given to our patients.
Dr. Melck was also in charge of our residents, had to book meeting, room availability, work with the director of UBC.
I was the assistant to Dr. Nagaria and ran her part of the office. She is our Cardiologist/Internist. I book all of her incoming and outgoing referrals. I arrange to have a diabetic nurse come into our clinic once a month to meet with our patients, I also book to have a Respiratory therapist come into our clinic to perform pre/post Spiro breathing tests on our patients.
A couple days a week I work with our walk in doctor and perform all MOA duties as asked.
I am also the clinic Supervisor. When our manager is away, I look after the clinic, staff, doctors and patients to make sure our clinic is ran smoothly and to make sure we have everything to run an efficient clinic.
I worked in the Pacific Lung Health Centre where I booked procedures such as Bronchoscopies, needle Biopsies, CT Scans, echo’s and other procedures that needed organizing. I also ran the front desk where the tasks included imputing all patient information, referrals, enter data in ADT and 4D Client, mail, receiving and making phone calls, organizing our clinic, any daily office duties and making sure the doctors had all they needed to an efficient ward.
I would pull and make charts, take the patients height and weight, and maintain the patients info and input their data. I did standard office duties as well as payments for the program and supplies.
I also did Medical billing with the program Osler.
I scheduled new referrals and existing patients with the program WOLF, pulled and made new patient charts.
I also assisted the Doctor during all the allergy testing.
For years I worked in clothing stores, seafood restaurant, gift stores, Forklift company and the Cloverdale Race Track.
My duties could range anywhere from helping customers, answering a 40 line switchboard, handling the float, lotto machine, inventory, organizing, leasing assistant, work order closures, warranty registrations, served customers and warmed up the horses around the track before the races.
I had received Scholarship funding, a plaque for student of the month, rated third highest student in my grade. I have a certificate in Super Host, My CPR Level C, First Aid and my MOA Diploma.
