I have 39 years experience in process automation, maintenance, managing outages, project work and cost control with Dow Chemical in Fort Saskatchewan. Most of my career has been within operations, the last 11 years in the Energy/Environmental businesses. I spent 3 years working within Dow's internal engineering business completing a project updating the way Dow made Styrofoam. Proven leader, team player and a positive influence within my work place.   • Reviewed and approved spending for all incoming work requests for Energy & Environmental businesses.
  • Sign off the business portion on small projects, ensuring all documents and drawings are correct and applicable. Schedules are realistic and manageable with available manpower.
  • Set and approve weekly maintenance schedules for all trades.
  • Member of business leadership team generating yearly budgets.
  • Responsible for business regulatory inspection program.

Process Automation Technician

  • Completed project converting the blowing agent used to make Dow Styrofoam as part of the Montreal Protocol, eliminating ozone depleting substances.
  • Part of a team standardizing the process automation for all 11 sites across North America.
  • For my part I assisted in initial coding, installation, start up and a Six Sigma green belt project on retraining all site personnel. The first being in Montreal.
  • A key achievement during this project was the creation of a computer driven simulation program. This allowed site personnel to train hands on, one of the most important factors when teaching. Able to create different scenarios for operations to deal with. This program has been leveraged to many different businesses globally since this project.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt leader.

Process Operator/Shift Supervisor

  • Operator on shift at a Vinyl/Ethylene Dichloride plant.
  • 3rd Class Power Engineer and did have a temporary 2nd class for vacation coverage.
  • Completed journeymen Pipe Fitting & Gas Fitter Red Seal tickets during this time.
  • Last 5 years were as shift supervisor.


Warehouse Technician

  • Recorded and reported shortages and damages and inspected product condition to verify accuracy of received inventory.
  • Organized warehouse storage areas to facilitate efficient receiving and shipping of products.
  • Pulled and packed shipments to prepare for freight pickup.
  • Submitted purchase orders for materials and investigated and resolved purchasing discrepancies to maintain optimum inventory levels.

  • I have over 20 years coaching hockey at every level from minor to junior A. While coaching junior hockey in Fort Saskatchewan I received mentorship from Clare Drake and Bill Moores. This proved to be extremely beneficial in teaching, leading and how to push people beyond what they thought then could achieve in a positive manner.
  • 30 year member of the Highlands Golf course. Vice president in 2014 & 2015.
