As a tree planter for Haveman Brothers, I spent two months travelling around the Thunder Bay area to plant trees. During those two months, I was tasked with the following:

• Work and live through daunting outdoor conditions, such as heavy rainfall, hail, below zero temperatures, extreme heat, and extreme amounts of insects.
• Planting different kinds of trees throughout different kinds of land using a variety of equipment, such as a shovel, large carrying bags, a hardhat, etc.
• Working through land that is full of many obstacles, such as tree stumps, slash piles, and much more.
• Working and living with co-workers in tents outside.
• Enduring long workdays with an early morning start.

As a summer day camp counsellor at the YMCA of Niagara, I was tasked with the following:

• Collaborating with other camp counselors to design fun and enriching learning activities for campers.
• Working with children of varying age, interest, skill, and developmental levels.
• Leading groups of children safely through variety of camp activities.
• Instructing campers to observe proper behavior and etiquette to avoid conflicts and unruly activities.
• Assisting with maintenance and upkeep of campgrounds to promote a clean environment.

As a worker in the hot foods department at Sobeys, my job was primarily to do the following:

• Assisting customers at the counter.
• Preparing a variety of meals, such as roasted chicken, potato wedges, etc.
• Working with dangerous equipment, such as a deli slicer, large ovens, a trash compactor, etc.
• Maintaining high levels of food safety and sanitation.
• Co-operating with my fellow employees.
• Handwashing dishes and cooking equipment.
• Loading, unloading, and moving material to and from storage and production areas.
• Maintaining work areas by cleaning and straightening for maximum productivity and safety.
