- Ensure all technical and administrative aspects of prescription dispensing is in accordance with federal and provincial regulation, standards of practice/store policies to deliver optimal customer care And services.
- Know the roles of all Pharmacy Team Members to ensure an efficient, safe and productive work environment.
- Complete and maintain accurate patient records. When required, transfer and receive prescriptions from other Pharmacies.
- Assess and interpret all prescriptions for completeness, authenticity and legal requirements. Ensure prescription is recorded accurately on patients record.
- Make patient referrals to the Pharmacist if required for clinical assessment.
- Select, prepare, package and label prescriptions from available products and extemporaneous compounds as outlined by policies and procedures.
- Perform accurate prescription adjudication and manage coverage related issues in cooperation with the patient and Pharmacist.
- Understand and adhere to the quality assurance policies/procedures for job performance management, medication error risk management and narcotic/controlled substance.
- Maintain the confidential and sensitive nature of the pharmacy/patient relationship at all times in accordance with legislation and standard.
- Check the prescription for completeness and accuracy and ensure the Pharmacist has reviewed the appropriateness of prescription prior to release.
- Enter and process the prescription and other purchases using the POS cash register, while providing customer assistance to locate products and make Pharmacist referrals as needed.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers by rapidly and accurately responding to their needs, as well as the needs of other health care provider.
- Maintain inventory requirements, coordinate the removal of expired medications in accordance with provincial legislation.
