- Using best management practices to provide sanitary water to the public
- Performing a variety of maintenance, repairs, and instillation of new water mains, commercial/residential service lines and fire hydrants with the use of proper disinfection methods
- General maintenance and repairs to reservoirs, pump stations, and pressure regulator vaults
- Maintains valves used to operate the city's water system
- Research of water atlases, construction blueprints, and other records resources to locate water infrastructure
- Completing daily dam maintenance duties including testing of lake water, dissolved oxygen levels and water clarity
- Performs bi-annual dam inspections with the Division of Safety of Dams
- Obtains water samples throughout the city's water system
- Installs new and temporary water meters for newly developed properties and records the instillation of meters for new housing tracts
- Locates and flushes recycled water system lines, exercising recycled water valves
- Repairs to concrete sidewalk panels and asphalt
- Experience with a variety of vehicles, equipment, tools, and testing instruments such as service and dump trucks, back hoes, air monitoring devices, ventilators, fall protection devices and trenching and shoring equipment
- Maintains all federal, state, and local codes including the city's mandated construction standards for the city's water system
