A recent university graduate at Carleton University with a degree that specializes in reading and writing through a critical lens. Academically, my main strengths are the ones cultivated through the process of engaging with the theories presented in a given text, and understanding it through a variety of factors, including the context under which it is written in, models of understanding (such as feminist theory), and my own world view. In the work force, I have a strong background in customer service and hospitality, and with experience as a Hostess and Aquatic Deck Supervisor, I possess excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to ensure customer satisfaction. I effectively managed the pool in the absence of the manager as an Aquatic Deck Supervisor, dealing with patron concern as well as overseeing and monitoring my guard team. Skilled in handling customer flow from my time as a hostess, I was effective in coordinating with servers and ensured strong communication in the face of a fast-paced environment.
In my free time, I write as a way to express myself. On top of the extensive reading list I was given for school, I made sure to stay on top of my personal reading list as I believe it is important to have balance between academic and non academic consumption. This applies to my writing as well. The best way to improve writing skills, at least for me, has been to write. I write books for my close friends, as whenever they've had an idea that they want to see in writing, I will take it upon myself to achieve their vision for their enjoyment. This has become a great way for me to think about the type of writer I want to be.
