Research Experiences

Thesis, A comparative analysis of the technologies to remove the oil spill-UVA

April 2022 to May 2023

  • Reviewed literature and compared different working principles of booms and skimmers, in situ burning, chemical dispersants, and bioremediation methods used in the oil spill cleanup
  • Examined the relationship between environmental factors and performances of technologies and found that booms and skimmers were affected most by environmental factors and biodegradation was the most stable mechanism
  • Applied ArcGIS Pro to analyze the distribution pattern of oil spills from 2009-2022 and produced a summary report to describe the trend and pattern of oil spills
  • Analyzed advantages and disadvantages including removal efficiency, cost, and secondary environmental damage of these technologies in order to compare the best technologies in oil pollution treatment

Environment Planning Research for Rongcheng City in China 2020.07-2021.07

  • Worked with my mentor graduated from Georgia Tech to formulate the environmental sectoral plan of the “14th Five-Year Plan” for Rongcheng City in Shandong Province of China, in order to help the city achieve the systemic transformation of green development within the next five years
