Research on converting methanol into DME using reactive distillation technique.
Simulate the industrial process and determine the required operating conditions for the DME production using Aveva simulation software and draw the PFD and P&ID based on the final design.
Liquid-phase reaction of methanol conversion using amberlyst-35 is simulated in Aveva, key decision varaibles: Number of stages of reactive distillation column, feed stages, reactive stages. Reflux ratio, boil up ratio, feed pressure, amount of catalyst/tray are optimized for each changed decision variable. Purity of the distillate and bottom, reactive stage temperature and catalyst volume are selected as constraints for optimization.

Project sells graphene heating vests and other clothes equipped with graphene heating film. Responsible for designing the whole product. (Including mobile app design, heating film design, experiments design, and cost optimization)
Major focus on experiments design: Heating film size/position selection, Battery capacity selection, Enviromental impact determination. Experiements are employed to determine the best size and position of heating film in the clothes while adapting the smallest battery.
Numerical simulation of a distillation plant using the bubble-point method to simulate the behavior of a multi-component mixture of hydrocarbons in a distillation column with a total condenser, a partial reboiler, and 30 stages in the tower. Simulation is done using Matlab.
