Comprehensive Life Expectancy Analysis Project, University of Toronto Nov. 2023 – Feb. 2024
Conducted an in-depth analysis of the interaction between various socioeconomic and health-related factors and their impact on life expectancy. Utilized statistical methods to examine predictors including health expenditure, HIV/AIDS prevalence, average years of schooling, measles incidence, adult mortality rate, BMI, and national status.
Employed R programming for data cleaning, model building, and data visualization. Developed multiple regression models and performed stepwise selection to identify the most significant variables influencing life expectancy.
Conducted rigorous model diagnostics including residual analysis, Q-Q plots, and variance inflation factor (VIF) assessment to ensure model validity and stability.
Validated the final model using a testing set and confirmed its robustness through partial F-tests and ANOVA.
The final model revealed significant positive associations between health expenditure, education years, and life expectancy, while highlighting the detrimental effects of HIV/AIDS prevalence and adult mortality rate.
