  • As a Direct Support Staff member at our youth homeless shelter, I played a vital role in providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for homeless youth. I worked directly with the residents, offering support, guidance, and assistance to help them achieve stability and move toward independence. It is a temporary shelter program where I, along with other staff members, work to find the youth residents stable, long-term placements, whether that be at another program, group home, or a legal guardian that can take them into custody. Ensuring the safety and welfare of all participants was a central component of the role, as was modeling appropriate behaviors and helping residents to develop essential life skills.
