Work History

California Emergency Response Corp Member/Team Lead

Bay Area Community Resources
11175 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530
09.2024 - Current
  • As members, our main priority is to be deployed and assist in areas affected by natural disasters, with responsibilities varying by situation. In such cases, we quickly adapt to the environment and help those who are affected. We refer to these deployments as our Grey Skies Operations.
  • When we're not on deployment, known as the Blue Skies Operation, we are stationed at our host site, performing day-to-day tasks ranging from community outreach to event setup. I have had the pleasure of having Binational of California and Big Brothers Big Sisters as my host sites while being a CERC member.
  • As a Team Lead, my responsibilities include working alongside my supervisors during deployments to ensure our members are informed about what their day will look like, relieving people for their breaks or switching positions, and stepping in for supervisors when they're unavailable. I also plan events for our members in the region, including those hosted by other sites, and perform acts of community service, usually in honor of national holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Earth Day.
  • Our first service day, in honor of MLK Jr. Day, involved picking up trash in downtown Fresno, around the brewery district, and it went very well. My fellow members were eager for the next service day.
  • Our following service day was in honor of Earth Day, and I worked closely with the director of the non-profit United by Roots, a community garden at Fresno State, to give our members an enjoyable service day. I am very proud to say it was a great success, and our members had fun activating 3 areas of their garden expansion by spreading mulch. Afterward, we participated in planting our own square-foot pot with a variety of plants and vegetables. Overall, our members had a lot of fun, and the director was very happy and wants to work again in the future.

Community Outreach Specialist

Binational of California
3302 N Blackstone Ave, Fresno, CA 93726
02.2023 - 04.2024
  • When I first started at Binational, I was a volunteer for their Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, where I assisted people with their income taxes and submitted their returns to the IRS for free. That position was temporary for the tax season, but I did it for 3 seasons. In my third year, I became a Site Coordinator, which put me in the position to help teach other volunteers about the program, and with some complicated forms that may arise, I was not able to fulfill this position for most of the season, since during this 2025 season, I was on deployment in LA with CERC, helping with the Pacific Palisades fires.
  • Other than tax season, I was an Outreach Specialist sent out at least once or twice a week to promote our services, which consisted of education, health, and environmental services. Through this, I learned how to properly approach and speak to people, and it was satisfying to help those people who needed our services.
