As a host, I referred guests to the appropriate tables, maintained a wait list for guests, cleaned every table as needed, and served as the information line of the restaurants, communicating info from our managers to staff when they were busy. As part of a team, I learned the importance of communication.

I was responsible for ensuring the safety of the lives of our guests, as well as cleaning and taking care of any issues in my area of jurisdiction for that day. This included rude costumers and crowds of rowdy guests. Meanwhile, we had to look out for and retrieve a little plastic baby the head guards would chuck into the pool as a test. Morbidly hilarious, but it sharpened my focus for sure. The whole job was really about handling tons of stimulation at once, and managing it all while maintaining a calm and positive demeanor. Lifeguard to lifeguard communication was also a necessity, so I've been well trained in relaying important information to my coworkers.
