Work History

Member of Technical Staff

MacDonald, Dettwiler And Associates (MDA)
01.2021 - Current
  • Lead and co-lead researcher for developing autonomous AI/ML path planners for the next-generational Canadarm3 using conditional variational autoencoders, reinforcement learning, physics-informed neural networks, and imitation learning.
  • Supported RnD group of 10 researchers and interns in developing AI/ML-based algorithms for robotic manipulators in Matlab and Python from scratch.
  • Lead analyst for supporting payload handoff mission from Canada's Dextre robotic arm to Japan's Kibo's robotic arm on the International Space Station (ISS) within 3 months. Results were presented and handed over to CSA/NASA. The mission was successfully completed on 11/14/2023. Generated ~75K CAD in revenue.
  • Lead analyst for coding internal software engines to support CSA/NASA space missions with Canadarm2 and Dextre using Python. Generated ~250K CAD in revenue for supporting mission roles.

Masters of Applied Sciences, MASc

University Of Toronto, UTIAS
  • Supervised by G.M.T D’Eleuterio of Space Robotics, UTIAS
  • Graduate thesis: A Maximum entropy principle for the brain. Developed a theoretical framework for understanding how biological neural connections are formed between networks of neurons during learning and memory using information theory by using biological data to bridge biological and artificial intelligence. Experimental simulation was done in Matlab to verify against empirical data.

Research Intern

Dublin Institute of Technology
- 08.2017
  • Supervised by Damon Berry, Dublin Institute of Technology
  • Lead project and proposed maximum-likelyhood techniques using Bayesian networks to detect different types of impairments for those with intellectual disabilities.
