Skills

  • Solidworks
  • AutoCad
  • Navisworks
  • Twinmotion

Design team

UBC Steel Bridge

Building Information Modelling sub team (BIM)

  • Learned Navisworks and Twinmotion to build efficient construction sequences and produced competition standard videos for judges and potential sponsors.
  • Cooperated with construction and design to optimize construction efficiency (2nd place construction speed), cost (3rd place construction economy), and design display (1st place aesthetics and video).
  • Communicated efficiently with sub team leaders to submit assignments on time.

Technical Project

1.  Timber Bridge.                                                                 January, 2023-April, 2023

  • Modeled bridge design to realistically simulate failure and deflection. Estimated capacity 13% higher than tested capacity, closest amongst peers.
  • Analysis the force on each member and the capacity.
  • Sequenced truss layering with small model and constructed 8’ by 2’ wooden bridge.

2. Study of Sustainable Solution to the Global Anthropogenic.

    January, 2022-February, 2022

  • Analyzed vehicle and carbon emission data to optimize road section selection for reducing greenhouse gases.
  • Discover the alternatives to fossil fuel in electricity production.

3. Pipeline Design.                                                                            March, 2023-April, 2023

  • Selecting two different size of pipe to construct the pipeline in the most effective and efficient way.
  • Modeled HGL (Hydraulic grade line) and EGL (Energy grade line) graphs using data obtained from excel formulas, showcasing an advanced understanding of data visualization and analysis.
  • Assess the required quantity of pipe and pumps for implementation in the pipe project.

4. Tiny House Project.                                                        September, 2022-December, 2022

  • Conduct a material assessment for the framing, siding, flooring, and insulation components of the house.
  • Analyze the quantity and associated cost of the selected materials for framing, siding, flooring, and insulation in the house construction.
  • Utilizing AutoCad to draft the flooring plan and evaluate the footprint.

5. Poster of Sustainable cutlery.                                                      March, 2022-April, 2022

  • Evaluate the triple bottom analysis (Economic, Environmental, and Social influence) for three different types disposable cutlery (Bamboo, Plastic, and CPLA).

6. Tiny Clothing Dryer Machine.                                             May, 2022-June, 2022

  • Design a clothing dryer that is more efficient and effective on recycling energy, as well as simple to use.
  • Design and produce the heat exchanger with heat sinks and heat pipes inside.
  • Made the simulation for the route of thermal flow through the entire dryer.

7. Watchdog.                                                                          October, 2022-November, 2022

  • Build a robot that detects a moving object, and measures and displays the distance from the object on the serial monitor.
  • Apply the engineering design steps in the process of building the robot.
