Affiliations

Vehicle Coast Down and Drive Cycle testing
• Performed a coast down test of the Volvo S60 Hybrid test vehicle to estimate aerodynamic, tire rolling
resistance and drivetrains , frictional losses, and estimate coefficients for the chassis dynamometer testing.
• Instrumented the test vehicle on a chassis dynamometer to measure vehicle speed, fuel consumption, etc, and
analyzed the dependencies of various road load parameters at different vehicle speeds.
• Performed the drive cycle test to compute the equivalent fuel economy of the test vehicle for the US06 Drive cycle.
Vehicle Dynamics Lab testing
• Instrumented the vehicle to measure yaw rate, ride height, vehicle speed, etc.
• Performed and analyzed the behavior of the test vehicle in hard braking, Slalom, Constant radius rotation
maneuvers with different loading conditions and vehicle speeds.
• Conducted steady-state assessment of vehicle suspension system by data acquired using eDAQ SoMat.
Optimal powertrain design of a Hybrid Power Electric Vehicle
• Benchmarked various engines, motors, and batteries available in the industry and modeled them in Simulink.
• Implemented a rule-based control strategy on the battery, engine, and motor models made on Simulink to
ensure operations under normal and optimal conditions to simulate a city drive cycle.
• Computed the equivalent MPG of the hybrid vehicle which resulted in 16 % less consumption of fuel.
Battery modeling in Simulink to simulate UDDS cycle
• Modeled the battery pack in Simulink which included thermodynamic & liquid cooling systems.
• Computed the State of Charge (SoC) using Coulomb Counting and battery life in miles using rainfall method in MATLAB.
• Implemented a PID controller to maintain the battery temperature below 30° C by controlling the coolant flow rate.
Formula Student (Supra 2018 & Formula Bharat 2019)
• Manufactured two formula-style open-wheel racecar prototypes for Pan-Indian Formula Student competitions -
Supra 2018 and Formula Bharat 2019.
• Designed and performed FEA analysis for the hub and uprights of the front and rear wheel assembly as well as developed a half-axle component for rear wheel assembly.
