Work History

Correctional Officer

Valley State Prison
03.2019 - Current

I began my career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) 2019 and reported to CCWF on March 16, 2020. During my tenure at the CCWF, I was assigned various posts throughout the institution. From February 2022 through March 2024, I was afforded the opportunity to be placed in the Disciplinary Officer position (A Yard Security Patrol #1), where I acquired the knowledge of the Rules Violation Report (RVR) process.

In between the Disciplinary Officer position, I accepted an opportunity to work as an Out of Class Counselor 1 (CCI) from November 2022, to May 2023, where I attained the knowledge and experience of classifying, ordering Violent (VIO) reviews, conducted Arson (ARS) reviews, assisting incarcerated individuals with programming and preparing them for Unit Classification Committees (UCC), reviewed and completed scoresheets, and generated Compassionate Releases, while meeting time constraint expectations. At the end of the OOC, I returned to the Disciplinary Disposition Officer position.

I again was selected to perform as an OOC CCI from July 2024, through September 2024, where I gained additional knowledge, skills and experience in analyzing, and recording of pertinent information necessary for classification and parole planning. I obtained a better understanding of policies and procedures while encompassing the cultural differences and perspectives of the incarcerated individuals. I attained comprehensive, complete, clear, and concise report writing skills and learned to deal tactfully and diplomatically with sensitive issues, which is beneficial to the female population, where de-escalation techniques are essential in evaluating situations accurately to take effective action.

On September 29, 2024 I transferred to Valley State Prison so I could have a better understanding on how to work with the male population.

On January 20, 2025, I was selected to perform as an OOC Sergeant to which I accepted. With the knowledge and experience I have obtained being a Disciplinary Officer, OOC CCI and housing officer I am able to navigate the Supervisorial role effectively.

I am neat in personal appearance and demonstrate professionalism within the workplace. I recognize and handle dangerous situations for incarcerated individuals and staff and can respond effectively to emergency situations. I problem solve with respect to the incarcerated individuals and staff and work well under pressure. I have experience in Visiting, Transportation, Control, Watch Office, Key and Tool, reviewing RVR’s, Incident Reports (IR), Confidential Disclosure Forms (1030), Confidential Memorandums, Chronos, Grievances and understand the functions of operating and requesting the Audio Video Surveillance System and Body Worn Camera footage, etc. and effectively maintain and complete high volumes of work.
