Nursing is not something that I considered when I was starting out but fell into it as the only job I could get was at a nursing home where I was given hands-on instructions on taking care of the elderly and discovered that I loved working with people and helping by making their lives a little better. I feel that I perhaps retired too soon and that I still have something left to give.
I worked as a vaccinator. I administered Covid 19 vaccines as well as flu vaccines to the general population and monitored clients for any possible side effects 15 minutes following injections.
In order to gain competence in this activity, I had previously taken the training given by ANBLPN and passed an exam on immunizations.
I worked as a vaccinator administering vaccines to the public. The Clinic was located on the third level of the CRH on the old Psychiatry unit and was run by Public Health.
I worked in different departments within the hospital but my last 15 or more years were on the Geriatric/ Rehab unit on the third floor.
As anyone who has worked with me will tell you that I am a team player. I have a good sense of humor and get along well with most people I come into contact with.
I'm sure that there are still some of the people I used to work with that are still at the CRH and would put in a good word for me.
