Utilizing my business development and marketing skills, I built a food truck business featuring Afghan foods. The business model was not one previously known in Afghanistan, but I was beginning to succeed when the Taliban take over in Afghanistan created unsafe conditions throughout the country.

• Ensured compliance with regulatory requirements through diligent monitoring and reporting
• Supervised and inspected installation and testing of rolling stock
• Delivered comprehensive training of all staff, oversaw 100 Uzbekistan workers, managed 10 Afghan staff, mentored new hires, created training manuals resulting in establishment of skilled workforce
• Prepared revenue reports, verified waybills, customs and other documents, resulting in efficiencies and cost savings of $30m on $50m contract

• Ensured readiness and safety compliance by inspecting and performing checks on emergency systems and effectiveness of railway Infrastructure
• Evaluated and made recommendations on facilities optimization, prepared and submitted regular Performance Evaluation Reports
• Conducted audits of revenues and recommended procedures for accurate monitoring to maximize efficiencies and profits

As the SMEC consultant, I was retained by our client, the Ministry of Public Works and the recently established Afghan Railway Authority to monitor and report on the 2nd phase construction of the rail line.

• Collaborated with the team's foreign engineers in checking construction quality, identifying issues and implementing system-wide improvements
• Supervised construction and managed work crews, Oversaw Material Laboratory Testing
• Paid a site visit to Tashkent (Uzbekistan) PC-Sleeper Factory and conducted strength tests to ensure product reliability

• Built relationships with strategic partners in government (e.g. Ministry of Public Works, Afghan Railway Authority, Governor of Mazar-e-Sharif)
• Managed omplex relationships, provided insights on business opportunities
• Collaborated with sales team on market research and analysis, assisted senior team in evaluating risk assessment, preparing EOI’s and coordinating proposals
• Succeeded in obtaining 0&M SMEC contract for rail line

• Collaborated with international track engineer on analyzing contractors' submissions
• Recommended systems to improve process efficiency and reduce project duration
• Worked with Project Manager (Canadian Railway Consultant, Steve Borsa) on reviewing engineering design, cost estimates, systems requirements, budgets and timeframe
• Project completed three months ahead of schedule - won SMEC International Project of the Year 2011

• Planned and implemented construction of animal clinics, resulting in reduced mortality rates for domestic animals in targeted areas.

• Managed planning and implementation of construction and installation of machinery for second phase construction of Ghori Cement Plant
